A Russian folk chastushka - is a unique folklore genre of folk music.
It is a short funny song, in most cases it contains of four rhymed lines, which represent the folk genre of oral tradition of the people. As a genre, they have become widespread in the early twentieth century. Young people from rural areas made up a lot of chastushkas and performed them at various festivals. Chastushkas can be accompanied with balalaika or accordion, though often they are sung without music.
