The relay of the Olympic Flame is a large sports related celebration, which precedes the Winter Olympic Games 2014. Thousands of torchbearers over the course of several months carry the Olympic Flame across the territory of Russia, the host country of the future Games, symbolizing the approaching Olympics.

Karelia is a well-known sports region, the main specialization of which is winter sports. During Soviet times, Karelian Sortavala made "Karelia" skis known to the whole country. Famous skier Larisa Lazutina and Evgenya Medvedeva were born in Karelia.

So, tomorrow our town meets the Olympic Flame!!! Our citizens and guests of the town are invited to the festival! It will be held on Kirov square! start at 18:00!
