Places where to make a wish!!!

The Republic of Karelia is famous for its cultural objects. There are a lot of interesting places that  attract tourists each year. But more than that several  unusual points of interests are located in Karelia. Three of them are located in the capital of Karelia - Petrozavodsk. They are situated on the embankment of Lake Onego. The embankment is the most beautiful place in Petrozavodsk.

• A top performer of desires in Petrozavodsk is  the Wish Tree. It is a gift to the town from our sister-city - the Swedish town of Umeå. This Tree was established in 1996. On the trunk a great ear is fixed, and above there is a plaque with words "Whisper one wish." On the branches of the tree bells made of brass were hanging few years ago. According to the authors, they began whispering  melody, if the desire was heard...

• Sculpture of a fisherman isn't the most outstanding work of art on the Onega embankment. A small figure representing Karelian fisherman in the style of folk is even hardly seen in the background of unusual abstraction of steel. However, the fisherman has a unique feature ... If you hold  hands of the fisherman, the wish is to become true!!!

• The purse of Luck has been an integral part of many Russian cities for a long time. In June 25, 2010 Petrozavodsk has got his "purse" as well. . It is a gift to the city from sponsors and Latvian artist Aivars Kerlinsh who accidentally found a stone form which inspired him to create an original sculpture. According to the expectations of the creators the Purse must bring money and wealth to anyone who touches it.

• On the bank of Syamozero Lake, near the village Syapsya there is a mini-zoo "Three Bears." The bears, wolves, foxes, raccoons, bobcats, moose, deer, eagles, falcons and even a chinchilla live there. Walk up to the aviaries and communicate with animals and, of course, don't forget to make a wish near a local idol - guardian spirit Berendey. According to the owners, good luck and prosperity will accompany you for a long time, even after leaving Petrozavodsk.

 

•  In August 12, 2011 in a small town Sortavala, in the central square near the fountain the Wish Tree appeared. Now the newlyweds have an official and a legal place to hang their locks and tie ribbons. Tree creators especially mark that not only newlyweds can make wishes and hang something, but all the residents and visitors of the city…

 

 

• In the Karelian village Kindasovo there is a monument to Glove. It is located in  unique museum of religious buildings of the ancient Sami. Tourists touch the nose (thumb) of Glove and make their wishes.

 

• This is also a monument, but natural. On the shore of Lake Ladoga, near the berth of Sortavala, there is a huge boulder, which is famous as a reliable performer of desires. It is called  Stone of Wish. You should touch it with your right hand and softly say you wish. And then, you should be patient and wait.
