Volunteers from Great Britain, Italy and Denmark teach children not only English

Why do we invite Enjoy Russian students to volunteer in the language camps? Because this is a two-way collaboration: guys learn the language (Russian) and teach the language (English) which turns out to be very efficient. This is the opportunity to come to a better understanding of how to speak a foreign language.

We usually ask the participants of the International Camp "What did the volunteer teach you?"
That's what they say:

- I learned so much about London and the way of life in England! And I also learned a lot of useful phrases
- The volunteer taught me to write in Chinese.
- Julia always cheered us, she is so funny!
- The volunteer helped me to learn about the countries, told about the Leaning Tower of Pisa
- The volunteer taught me how to work in a group, and also told me that Hollywood is in Los Angeles!
-  These two weeks were undoubtedly the most stunning and exciting in my whole life!

3 reasons students feel like home in Petrozavodsk

It is also an opportunity to learn more about myself and add a magic sparkle to my life. I would compare it to using magic wand to cast Lumos spell in a dark room!”

” The life with students is so much fun! Once we went to a canteen with a student. He thought it was a kind of restaurant and someone should give him a menu. But after no one came he grabbed as many plates as could. “Are you that hungry?” I asked. “No, I thought it’s for free! I am lucky to meet only positive people:)

And moreover they loke volunteering because:
– They like making friends
– It is never ending language practice
– It is about positive emotions and being on the bright side
And finally, they want to spread Russian culture to the world!

Let me introduce one of the “EnjoyRussian” Language School friends – Laura! 
For the first time she came to our school in 2015! And in 2016 she came back to Petrozavodsk as a volunteer in our International Summer Language Camp for Teenagers. Laura fond of the Russian language, so after the camp she had 2-week Russian course and lots of speaking practice during her stay in Petrozavodsk!

If you continue Russian language learning, you will improve your speaking and listening skills. As we offer Russian language immersion program you will speak and listen to the Russian language 24 hours a day! Petrozavodsk is the best place to practice Russian as you have to use it in the city.

Have you already met Yana? 

Yana is a wonderful person and a unique volunteer in our school! Once you've communicated to her, you want to do it again and again! If she participates in any of our activities she is always in the highlight and contributes a lot in the success of the students' stay in Petrozavodsk. Yana knows Spanish, German, of course English, she is hitching a ride and... and let her introduce herself. 

"Being a volunteer changes you completely. When I first came to Enjoy Russian, I was a young girl full of expectations and eager to meet new people from different cultures. Now I am a traveler, a hitchhiker, a blogger and a future English and German teacher. My motto is more life in life. I learn languages, peculiarities about people’s culture and mentality. I am a rafting instructor and know quite a lot about the nature of Karelia. My biggest dream is to make a round-the-world trip by hitchhiking and prove that money is not an essential thing in travelling"

Sam was learning Russian and being a volunteer in our Summer language camp for children and teenagers. 

"I met Sam on the first day of camp. I thought he was funny and interesting. 
It was hard for me to talk to him because he does not know Russian. I don’t understand English very well, but now I’m better at understanding English. Because of this I was able to talk to him.

Hugs and kisses!

Nowadays many young people in Russia use kisses and hugs to greet a person! They usually do it even if they are not close friends, relatives or a loving couple. Moreover they can hug and kiss you even if you get acquainted just a few hours ago.  

Of course not all the Russians are crazy about that! Some people express themselves discreetly. But don’t doubt! They are glad to see you!

Just don’t be surprised if a new acquaintance kisses you on the cheek or hugs you! Especially our old ladies fond of big hugs! Such a cordial hospitality is one of the national features.

But if it makes you feel awkward don’t be shy to say about that!

We are always happy to greet our new students! Elena from Switzerland started her program "Volunteer and Learn Russian" in Petrozavodsk from Monday. And we organized a Welcome Party for her! We are sure she is going to have a great time here!

We have many interesting programs for our students in Petrozavodsk. For Example Rahel is a volunteer in the Centre "Senzala Capoeira Karelia". She works as an assistant of the main capoeira master Anastasia and helps children during their trainings. Children like Rahel very much and we have only good reviews about this volunteer work!

These weekends were amazing! Our students visited the folk concert of the folk group "Skylark", the traditional competition of sled dog race “On the land of Sampo” and Russian banja! Everybody could find here an activity for soul!
