Ежегодно в декабре президент Российской Федерации Владимир Владимирович Путин проводит большую пресс-конференцию, на которой он отвечает на самые острые и важные вопросы российских и иностранных журналистов. 23 декабря 2016 года пресс-конференция прошла в двенадцатый (12) раз. На ней присутствовали почти полторы тысячи (1500) журналистов. Пресс-конференция продлилась 3 часа 50 минут. Президент ответил на вопросы 47 журналистов. Самые каверзные вопросы касались Сирии, Украины, Крыма, убийства российского посла в Турции, выборов американского президента, экономической ситуации в России и т.д. Путин не ответил однозначно на вопрос, будет ли он участвовать в выборах в 2018 году. Обещал ответить, когда придёт время. Путин заявил, что Китай является самым крупным партнёром России. Журналист NBC News поинтересовался, когда будет встреча с Трампом. Путин не знает, когда точно произойдет встреча. Он согласен с Трампом, что главным вопросом их встречи должно стать улучшение отношений РФ и США.
